Camp McCoy, NV

This is more of an ORE sample than a specimen as there isn't much visible Gold. However, this is a rare location as I have never seen any specimens from this old historic Nevada mining camp for sale.  I worked on exploration on this property in the 1970s and found this piece and others in the rib, in an underground adit. I actually mined it and it was extremely hard going as it was silicified. The Gold is an orangish color and shows brilliant luster. One needs a magnifier to appreciate seeing the Gold. There is also Pyrite and a trace of Chalcopyrite present. This property was open pit mined from 1986 to 2004, and although is inactive continues to be explored.
