GOTHIC!!!

A small, Intricate and exquisite crystallized Gold specimen.  Shows bright luster, and nice color. Very intricate, yet coarse, dendritic-like, crystal development.  Found in the Jumbo Mine area of the Manhattan Mining District.

Gold specimen from the Olinghouse Mine, NV.  Gold is crystallized into a myriad of ribbons, and leaves.  All sides show this crystallization. Brilliant luster. Color shows as orange-yellow. This piece was found in the placer areas so shows wear. Matrix appears to be Quartz and clays.  Weighs .10 Oz.

Manhattan Nevada Crystallized Gold.  Brightly lustered, with a bronze color. Gold occurs as a compact mass of leaves, ribbons, and moderate herringbone/dendritic crystal growth.  Gray, Chalcedonic Quartz forms the matrix.  A specific gravity determination indicates 9.2 Grams contained Gold. Found in an old historic mining camp using a MineLab 5000 metal detector.

Technically this is a naturally occurring alloy of 60% Gold and 40% Silver called Electrum, which usually is a silvery-gray color. Treated with Mineral Oil to show contrast with Gold and matrix. Found in an old Nevada Mining camp. Specific Gravity determination indicates 3.6 Grams Gold.

Brilliant, luster, nice rich brassy color. One of the most wondrous pieces I have found. Found within an obscure, old, historic, Nevada Gold camp.

A Crystallized Gold specimen in low temperature Quartz. This is an example of a Paleo-hot springs type of Gold specimen. Gold occurs as wires, partial dendrites, incomplete leaves, and cubes, in an open, vuggy, cockscomb quartz setting. Gold is shot throughout the specimen.  A Specific Gravity determination indicates 10.2 Grams contained Gold. It has been treated with mineral oil to enhance the contrast with the Quartz and Gold. To remove soak in rubbing alcohol, or hot water.  An exceptional piece from an obscure location. 

MONSTER!! A specimen from the Seven Troughs Mining District. Gold occurs as deep, orangish-tinted blades, leaves, ribbons, blebs, and micro dendritic crystalline structures along tiny fractures. Matrix is a fine-grained quartz.  This piece represents a segment of a 1 3/4 inch Quartz vein. A wonderful high grade ore specimen.  From an old collection. A specific gravity determination indicates 1.45 ounces contained Gold.

Exceptional!!!!...Crystallized Gold in low temperature Quartz.  This is an example of a Paleo - hot springs type of Gold specimen. Gold occurs as tiny cubes, octahedrons, wires, partial dendrites, and pyramidal terminated crystals in a very fine grained Quartz matrix. The actual vein containing the Gold is 1 cm.  thick, and it cuts through the thin bedded Shale host rock. There is minor Limonite staining present. This piece comes from an obscure location. A specific gravity calculation indicates approx. 22 Grams of Gold.  An exceptional large cabinet piece from this obscure and rare location. From an old collection.

A stunning specimen of crystalline and crystallized Gold in crystallized Quartz. Complex specimen with a mixture of crystalline Gold, composed of ribbons, thick wires, some cubes, and weak dendrites in a matrix of clear crystallized Quartz. Brilliant luster and a lovely buttery - yellow color. Most of the Gold is not exposed. Few % oxidized sulfides as FeOxs.  A very curious specimen, found in an obscure, old historic Nevada camp. A Specific Gravity determination indicates 13.9 Grams contained Gold.

OREGON GOLD!!  Pretty little GEM!!   Found in the John Day placer area. Gold exhibits a lemony-yellow color and shows great luster. Hosted by ~25% white Quartz.  Weighs .11 oz.

A splendid, alluvial Gold specimen from the National Mine area in the Columbia Mining District, California. Gold shows brilliant luster and a rich buttery-yellow color. The Gold shows sprays of partially developed octahedral crystal growth. Movement in the alluvial environment has exhibited wear on the exposed Gold. There is about 25% remnant, snow white Quartz matrix.  Piece is showy.  Weighs .55 OZ.

A curious crystallized Gold specimen from the now closed Fire Creek mine, Lander Co. NV.  Small .5 mm slab showing fantastic dendritic Gold crystal growth.  This piece illustrates the relationship of the Quartz vein matrix in contact with Basalt on one side and Calcite on the other side.  This mine is one of the few recent Gold mines in Nevada that mined visible Gold (VG).  Most Nevada Gold mines are mining micron Gold, only recovered using Cyanide leaching technology. A Specific Gravity determination yielded 3.4 Grams Gold
