An interesting specimen of a vein fragment with crystalline Gold. Gold shows bright luster and an orangish color. Veinlet is 2 cm. thick. Few % pyrite along one edge. Found using a metal detector digging in old mine dumps. Weighs 6.1 Grams.

Mother Lode Gold

An interesting specimen of a vein fragment with crystalline Gold. Gold shows bright luster and an orangish color. Veinlet is 1 cm. thick. Black streaks parallel to the vein edges may be fine grained black slate wall rock, or graphite, or possibly a Silver mineral?Treated with Mineral oil to show contrast. 

A small Crystalline Gold specimen from the Big 4 Hill area, Manhattan Nevada. Brightly lustered, with an orange-yellow color. Gold occurs as several leaves on a Quartz vein. Overall weak Hematite staining. Abundant, tiny Quartz crystals. Treated with a light coating of mineral oil to enhance contrast, may be removed by soaking in hot water for seconds. Found using Goldbug2 metal detector.

A small, specimen of Crystalline Gold on crystallized Quartz. Gold shows brilliant luster with strong brassy-yellow color. The Gold appears to be a partially developed Spinel Crystal over 1.5 Cm. long.   Found in the Western Sahara, Assa-Zag Province, Morocco.   Weighs .13 oz.

An exquisite, small, Gold specimen from the Olinghouse mine, NV. Gold is crystallized into wires.  Spectacular brilliant luster. Exhibits a pale, lemony-yellow color. The wires are scattered all over a wonderous tiny Quartz crystal matrix.  Very difficult to get these Olinghouse specimens.

Mother Lode Gold!

Crystalline Gold found using a metal detector, searching the old mine dumps in the California Mother Lode. Gold exhibits splendid luster, and a lively brassy-yellow color. Gold is shot through white Quartz.  A Specific Gravity determination indicates 1.5 Grams contained Gold. Weighs .24 Oz

Crystalline, leaf Gold in Quartz matrix. Gold occurs as a dense accumulation of leaves, flakes, and ribbons. Gold is bright and exhibits an orangish-yellow color. There is a slight suggestion of dendritic crystalline growth. The blue-gray mineral is probably a Silver sulfide such as Acinthite. Specimen has been etched to better display the complex Gold structure. Technically this is a naturally occurring alloy of 60% Gold and 40% Silver called Electrum.

Intricate and exquisite crystallized Gold. Small, but beautiful crystallized, dendritic Gold.  Bright luster, nice color.  Scarce specimen. Comes from an obscure location.

OBSCURE!

A small, elongated specimen of richly lustered, orange colored Gold.  Gold occurs as tiny grains, granules in very thin connected ribbons. The Gold occurs within a small .5 cm Quartz veinlet.   Quartz shows vugs with tiny euhedral crystals.  Found using a Goldbug2 metal detector in a very obscure location.

Round Mountain Leaf Gold. 

Beautiful specimen of a mass of compressed Gold leaves. Brilliant, vibrant luster and a brassy-yellow color. This is an early production Round Mountain specimen, rarely seen today. Gold occurs as a .5 cm. thick band on a FeOx stained siliceous matrix. 

Crystallized Gold!!

A complex, Spinel Twinned Gold crystal that has only partially developed. From the Asaa-Zag Province of the Western Sahara, Morocco.  Shows spinel crystal offset on a leaf projection. Has an orangish color and shows bright luster.  Nicely presented on a Quartz base.

A wonderful, large crystalline Gold in Quartz specimen from the 16 to 1 Mine in the Alleghany Mining District.  Crystalline Gold shows brilliant luster and a nice lemony yellow color.  Appears to be sheeted within the Quartz. Trace dark grey Telluride mineral, probably Petzite.  A Specific Gravity determination shows 8 Grams contained Gold. Weighs 1.25 OZ.

INCA GOLD!!!!

Interesting small crystalline Gold specimen from Peru. Champagne colored Gold occurs in a porous white Quartz matrix. Vugs are lined with tiny Quartz crystals and crystalline Gold. Few % disseminated crystalline, and larger Pyrite crystals on one end. Uncommon to find Peru Gold specimens.

California Gold! 

 A splendid Crystallized Leaf Gold specimen shot through white Quartz. Thick leaves of Gold exhibit brilliant luster, and buttery-yellow color.   Few % Telluride mineral (Petzite?) Not etched. Nice piece from the famous Harvard Mine.   Specific gravity determination indicates 8.1 Grams of contained Gold.  Flashy piece!

A Splendid, crystallized Gold specimen from the famous Eagles Nest mine, Michigan Bluff Mining District, in Placer Co. California. The specimen exhibits brilliant luster, and rich, buttery-yellow color.  The Gold forms brilliant, mirror-like, flattened octahedrons, a few Gold  dendrites, and numerous raised octahedral crystals. Few % Quartz on specimen, and is perched on a white Quartz base.

UNIQUE!!

Crystallized dendritic Gold specimen from the April Fools Hill area, Manhattan Nevada. This specimen is cut with a diamond saw across a piece of a Gold rich Quartz vein.  Shows minor FeOx staining. Gold is brilliantly lustered, with a pale-yellow color. Found with a Goldbug2 metal detector in this old, historic Nevada mining camp.

Has been etched.  A Specific Gravity determination indicates 5.2 Grams contained Gold.

Manhattan Nevada Crystalline Gold in crystallized Quartz matrix.  Brightly lustered, with a pale lemony yellow color. Gold occurs as ribbons, grains, and strong dendritic clusters within a FeOx stained Quartz matrix showing many tiny euhedral Quartz crystals. Specimen has not been etched. 

MOTHER LODE-CALIFORNIA  GOLD!!!     An exquisite, crystalline Gold specimen from the famous Harvard Mine in the Jamestown mining district. A beautiful specimen of Californian Gold. Deep, buttery-yellow colored, brilliant lustered,  Trace white Quartz matrix remains also a trace dark mineral, possibly Petzite. Found at an old 1849 vintage Californian Gold mine.  Extremely nice specimen.  These specimens are very difficult to obtain as the mine has been closed, and flooded for over 75 years.

Manhattan Nevada Crystallized Gold.  Brightly lustered, with a bronze color. Gold occurs as a compact mass of leaves, ribbons, and moderate herringbone/dendritic crystal growth.  Gray, Chalcedonic Quartz forms the matrix.  A specific gravity determination indicates 9.2 Grams contained Gold. Found in an old historic mining camp using a MineLab 5000 metal detector.

Tiny...but Intricate and exquisite crystallized Gold specimen. Complex cubic crystal habit, shows rows upon rows of cubic crystals, also staircase-like cubic crystal development.   The reverse side exhibits curious herringbone crystal growth. Brilliant, luster, nice rich brassy color. One of the most wondrous pieces I have found. Found within an obscure, old, historic, Nevada Gold camp.
