HOMESTAKE MINE GOLD

Small, crystalline Gold specimen in Quartz, with trace of Sideroplesite, and chloritized Biotite?  Gold exhibits brilliant luster, and deep, yellow color. The Sideroplesite has a yellowish-brown color. Collected from the deep underground workings of the Homestake Mine.  This Gold is extremely old, dated from the Proterozoic Era, approximately 2500 million years old.  The mine ceased production in 2001 and is now a National Science Foundation, deep underground laboratory for scientific studies. VERY uncommon specimen.   Weighs  16.4 Grams.
