CHINESE GOLD!!!!! Beautiful crystalline specimen exhibiting brilliant, lively luster and a rich orangish color. Pseudo-crystal faces probably from Quartz crystals intergrown with the Gold, these faces show brilliant mirror-like surfaces, some appear as thin Gold leaf. Sparse Octoheadral crystal development observed. Somewhat more Hackly appearance. Small trace of Quartz matrix remains as well as  small % Petzite.  I obtained these specimens at an International Gem and Mineral Exhibition in Changsha China in May, 2014.  These were the ONLY Chinese Gold specimens in the entire show. Seems the Chinese Government does not allow miners to sell to anyone other than the Government owned and controlled refiners. (That is my interpretation) I am sorry they are sooo expensive...but I had to pay dearly to get them myself. Only through my Chinese wifes wonderful negotiating skills was I able to obtain these pieces. I dont know very much geologic detail about the deposit.

Simply soak in hot water, or rubbing alcohol, if wished.  Housed in a 2.5" X 1.5" X 1.5" clear plastic display case.  Found in an old historic, Nevada Gold camp, using a Goldbug2 metal detector.

A small specimen of Arsenian Pyrite with crystalline Gold in Quartz from the Black Diamond mine  in Plumas Co. CA. The Arsenopyrite  has been dissolved away from the specimen so the Gold can be seen in all its glory.  The Gold occurs in several modes: as thin leaves and blades, and as striated crystal replacements of the actual Arsenopyrite. Gold shows brilliant luster and a rich buttery-yellow color. A very interesting piece.

Intricate and exquisite crystallized Gold. Beautiful, complexly crystallized leaf Gold, many leaves crystallizing into individual branching wires and stalks that are capped by weakly developed octohedrons on the terminations. Trace trigons on few leaves. Brilliant luster, nice rich deep buttery-yellow color. Entire specimen was originally covered, and coated with concretionary FeOxs and MnOxs. There still is approx. 5% coating remaining.  Strong Adularia and minor Quartz matrix.  A specific gravity test determined approximately 61 grains (4 Grams) Gold in specimen.  A unique and scarce specimen. Found underground in the 1930s in an obscure, old, historic, Nevada Gold camp. Weighs .42 oz.

Wonderful crystalline specimen Gold from the famous Carson Hill Mines, Calaveras County, California.  Lode Gold was discovered in 1850 where extremely rich Gold ore was blasted from near surface Quartz veins ..principally from the Morgan mine. The early miners then simply picked up the rich Gold fragments.  Open pit mining from the 1980s to 1991 attempted to mine the deposit by consolidating the various deposits. These early specimens contained richTelluride minerals with the Gold- principally Hessite and Petzite.  Later attempts were made, to crush the waste dumps and market the material to the California Department of Highways (CALTRAN).  Nugget traps were installed on the gravel sorting circuits and these specimens were  recovered as a result.

This specimen is semi-crystallized,   Gold shows brite, reflective luster, and a brassy-yellow color. has approximately 40%  feldspar/Quartz matrix (albite?) Rare trace Petzite??
