Gold Nuggets, Too!

For more than a decade, Northern Nevada Gold has sold mineral specimens, nuggets, and gold nugget jewelry online. Our world-class specimens are ideal for classroom education, training, investment, gifts, or simply enjoyment.

Specimen gold is generally found and retrieved from lode gold deposits. These are usually high-grade occurences found in quartz veins, or less commonly calcite. Gold may also be found as specimens in, or with iron oxides, adularia (a low-temperature feldspar), sulfides, and with other silica-rich minerals such as tourmaline, amythest, or clay minerals.

Gold nuggets are created in nature as a result of the surface weathering processes on high-grade gold bearing quartz veins, or rarely other types of geologic gold deposits.

CREEDE, Colorado SILVER!!!!   Bulldog Mine High-Grade!!!  Slab .7 mm - .2 mm thick cut from a Barite vein with high-grade Silver mineralization. Creede was mined from the 1870s to 1960s. A revival was made in 1969 when the Homestake Mining Co.  opened up the Bulldog Mine and produced millions of ounces of Silver. The mine was shut down in 1985 due to low Silver prices.  Hecla is currently active on this property.

This slab shows distinct banding of white Barite matrix with several bands of gray, Silver sulfides, probably Argentite/Acmite.  Most of the bands contain Native Silver,  there are also whispey and granular Silver showings throughout the piece.

CANADIAN NATIVE SILVER!!!!!

Wonderful crystalline Silver slab specimen from the historic, Castle Mine in Cobalt-Gowganda, Ontario, Canada.  Specimen exhibits a spider web-like display of Native Silver in a Greenstone matrix.  Minor Calcite is also present. Shows brilliant silvery metallic luster. Only one side has been cut with a Diamond saw, the other side is "as found".  There may be Cobalt minerals also present. This specimen comes from an old 1900s mine dump.  Massive Native Silver was discovered in veins in Pre-Cambrian Greenstones in Cobalt, Ontario in 1903 and hundreds of mines were eventually exploiting the metal. By 1915 the mines were essentially exhausted. The Castle Mine was in production from 1917 to 1989 and now is currently being explored again and new high grade Silver veins have been discovered.  Today only a few countries have historically produced Native Silver, and even less currently are producing now.
